Leadership

With all Advices around, Where Are True Leaders?

Everywhere you turn, there’s advice on how to be a better leader. Books, articles, seminars—they all promise to unlock the secrets of effective leadership. But if that’s true, why are genuinely effective leaders so hard to find?

Think about it: Have you ever met someone who actually believes that:

  • Exercise is bad for you?
  • Drinking alcohol and using drugs will improve your life?
  • Eating tons of sugar is the key to perfect health?
  • Being a great leader means never delegating tasks?
  • Working long hours is the best way to balance your life?

Of course not. We all know these things don’t make sense. We know that staying active is good, bad habits are harmful, delegating is essential, and balancing work and life is crucial. So, if we’re all on the same page with these basics, why aren’t we surrounded by athletes, excellent parents, and great leaders?

Here’s the thing: People don’t look for mentors or coaches just to get more information. Most of us already know what’s right. The real challenge is turning that knowledge into action.

There are two main reasons why so many people struggle to become the leaders they want to be:

  1. Comfort vs. Leadership Growth: It’s not just about stepping outside your comfort zone. Our fears and the habits we’ve built up over the years affect both our personal and professional lives. These internal barriers often hold us back, even when we know better. True growth is about overcoming these fears and habits to reach our full potential as leaders.
  2. Advice Isn’t Enough: If simply giving advice could create leaders, we’d see a lot more of them. Research shows that nearly half of all prescribed medications go unused—not because people don’t know they’re important, but because they want to be healthy without putting in the effort. The same goes for leadership—knowing what to do is one thing, but actually doing it is another. True leadership requires more than just knowing the right thing to do; it requires a transformation to become the person who can do it.

Leadership isn’t about perfection—it’s about continuous growth. It’s about having the courage to see your own drawbacks and accept them, both in yourself and in others. It’s about breaking through your habitual patterns and confronting the fears you might not even be aware of. Leadership is like a rocket at launch—it sheds all unnecessary parts to become a perfectly streamlined vessel, capable of traveling far into space. If we know the right things to do, it’s time to abandon the useless patterns that hold us back and become that rocket, ready to journey to places we can’t yet even imagine.
